AIG Hawaii Joins Farmers Insurance Group in January

It’s the end of an era for AIG Hawaii Insurance Company, Inc. On Tuesday, November 24th, 2009, the firm announced that it would be changing its name to reflect that of its new owner, Farmers Insurance Group. The name change will officially begin with the new year. As of January 1, 2010, the company, which was purchased by Famers in July, 2009, will be known as Farmers Insurance Hawaii.

Robin Campaniano, president and CEO of AIG Hawaii, is positive about the change, telling the press, “There’s been a lot of excitement as we begin final preparations to become Farmers Insurance Hawaii. Our customers will still receive the same outstanding service, affordable products, and ohana spirit they’ve come to expect from us, with the added financial strength of Farmers Insurance. Through this transition we are emerging as an even stronger company.”

The company is committed to retaining its Hawaii-based customers, and plans to maintain all of its operations in the state. As well, consumers should be assured that all branches, statewide, will stay open and staffed in orfer to provide service.

Campaniano adds, “Continuing to provide a high level of service to customers and looking out for the well-being of our employees was our top priority through this transition. Our intent was to create a smooth, seamless transition for everyone involved.”

Currently, Farmers Insurance Group is the third-largest personal lines insurance company in the nation, with a customer base over 15 million strong, and over $16.7 billion in gross written premium as of last June. In addition, Farmers has an “A” financial strength rating from Standard and Poors and A. M. Best.
