It’s only logical that more vehicles are stolen in urban areas than in areas with less congestion. With increased numbers of people come increased accidents – and more incidences of theft. Suburban towns that are located on or near national borders, and those towns that house ports, often have the most well-developed organizations of professional car thieves. - Seattle, Washington
- Tacoma, Washington
Further, the greatest decreases in automobile theft, fraud and scam prevalence occur in the northeastern states. Given these big city automobile insurance statistics, a Camry owner in Denver may stand a greater chance of having his or her vehicle stolen than would a Corvette owner in New York City. However, regardless of where you live, you need to be especially attentive if you own any of the following types of vehicles:
- Cadillac Escalade
- Lincoln Navigator
- Ford Expedition
- Dodge Ram
Vehicle insurance rates can be decreased for everybody across the board if all motorists are attentive to the following:
- Never leave your vehicle running;
- Keep your keys with you, not in the vehicle;
- Park in attended parking lots or in other well-lit areas;
- Have antitheft devices installed;
- Keep your windows closed tightly when you are not in the vehicle;
- Never leave your valuables inside your vehicle where visible;
- Consider having car alarms and vehicle tracking devices installed;
